Sunset friends and family!
We are a little over a week into our Fall Fundraising Campaign. A big thank you to all who have donated so far! At last count we have a little over $1100…that’s a lot of nickels and dimes! But, we have a waaaaaays to go to reach our goal of $7500 to add new, current, and engaging nonfiction books for readers of ALL levels in our school.
So please consider writing a check, pulling a few bills out of your wallet, or emptying your coin purse into the bag that came hold with your child last week. No bag? No problem- put it in an envelope, a ziploc, whatever. There are buckets in each classroom which are collected daily, or you can donate directly to the jars in the office.
Let’s Fill the Jars, Sunset, so we can fill the shelves with more books for our little readers!
Thanks to our helpers at the most recent garden cleanup party and an especially big thanks to Sarah Liddell for organizing. There is always more to do, please let Sarah or one of the board members know if you are interested in helping.
Reminder! PTSO meeting This THURSDAY Oct 1 at 6:30 pm in the Sunset Primary School library. ALL are welcome, please join us to learn what we are up to!

Thanks again for your support! Unless a few more straggler packets come in on Monday, our final total raised $12,760. We’re so excited to be able to continue to support the educational and social development of our students next year!
Last night, the class and individual winners were announced. The winners are . . .
Class with most money raised: Ms Edwards’ K/1 class, $1,696
Class with highest percentage of participation: Ms Adams’ 2nd grade class, 92%
Student winners for highest total amount raised/highest number of donations . . .
Evan P. from Ms Miller’s class
Kellen O. from Ms Nofsinger’s class
Congratulations! The classes have won popcorn and movie parties and $50 gift cards for their teachers, and the student winners will get to chose between Principal for the Day and Name the Street Sign. Way to go!
Thank you to our sponsors, who covered the Fun Run expenses so that every penny raised by the kids went straight to the school.

Love the feeling of accomplishment? Like quick tasks? You’ll get that and more by helping out in our school workroom. With fewer IAs this year, we could use a team of dedicated people that can help teachers out with copying and some misc tasks. If you are helping in a classroom one day a week, maybe you can swing by and check if anything needs done or be added to a list to be notified when work stacks up or large projects come in. The more we can do to help with production work, the more time our teachers have to dedicate to our kids! If you can help, contact Julie True at firstname.lastname@example.org or 655-2205.
Thank you to all who have already participated in the Fall Fundraiser. After extending the deadline due to low participation, we’ve raised a little over $1000 more since Tuesday! Your generous support keeps valuable programs and funds going at our school. There’s still time to participate- the deadline for getting packets in is October 24th. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Please email Kristen or Sally with any questions.
THE SUNSET PTSO NEEDS YOU!
Your Sunset PTSO is looking for our next year’s board and chairs. This is a unique year for Sunset! Currently, 3 of our board members and 11 of our chairs are moving on! We are searching for a number of new parents to continue our Sunset traditions and help shape the future of Sunset.
Please consider donating some of your time to continue these wonderful experiences
for all of our children!
PTSO plays an integral role in supporting our school and provides funding for such programs as music, physical education, library, teacher & classroom support, Sunset garden, reading tutorial programs, assemblies, field day, as well as our popular community events like the Pizza Bingo, Barn Blast, Movie Night, and Family Breakfast.
These amazing programs could not exist without the help of our students’ parents.
If you are interested or know of someone you could recommend, please fill out the attached nomination form and return it to the school office. More than one person can lead a committee, so encourage a friend to help you out! Please contact Jenny Kling at email@example.com with any questions.
Click here for the nomination form also includes detailed information about the responsibilities of each role.
Please return your nomination form to the Sunset office by
Monday, May 14, 2012.
Don’t cook dinner Tuesday– take the flyer that came home in your child’s backpack last week and go to Five Guys! Support our school and enjoy a night off from kitchen duty. Don’t forget the flyer– you need to bring it in order for Five Guys to give part of the proceeds to Sunset
