Welcome back to school!

Dear Sunset Families,

Welcome back to a new school year!  Your new PTSO Board is hard at work making plans for the new school year and we so look forward to seeing all our friends and of course making new friends with all of you who are new at Sunset. I am excited to introduce you to our new board for the school year:

Ø     I am Linnette Jackson, PTSO President; this is my third year at Sunset and my first time on the PTSO board. I have two children Grace, a second grader, and Garrett who is starting kindergarten. I love to walk, read and hang out with friends and family.

Ø     Jenny Kling is our new wonderful Vice-President.  This will be Jenny’s second year at Sunset and her first year on the PTSO Board.  She has a daughter, Katie, in first grade.  Jenny prides herself as a “Master Organizer” and loves to help wherever she can.  Jenny also helps with the Preschool committee.

Ø     Michele Beyer is our Treasurer and we are very lucky to have Michele and her 6 years of PTSO Board experience.  She has four children, two sons, Stephen and Daniel, who have graduated from West Linn High School, Leah who is an 8th grader at Rosemont Ridge Middle school and Adam who is a 3rd grader at Sunset.  She also is the proud grandmother of Savanna who is three.

Ø     Caroline Popma is our fabulous new Secretary.  She is beginning her third year at Sunset with her sons, Luke, in second grade, and Henry in kindergarten.  Caroline, and her husband, Greg, are looking forward to a great 2009-2010 school year and sports season!  (Go Ducks!)

All parents and students, as well as faculty and staff, are considered members of Sunset Parent Teacher Support Organization (PTSO).  The responsibility of the PTSO is to enhance the learning opportunities of our children as well as strengthen the connectedness of our community.  All of the work we do is not possible with out the help of our volunteers.  Please check out our “events/volunteer opportunities heading” to find out more.  Time commitments will vary depending on the activity you are interested in.  Even if you only have a couple hours a month, every commitment of your time is greatly needed and appreciated.  I hope that each of you will find some opportunity to get involved.

Our PTSO meeting times are listed under”events and activities” and can also be found on the school calendar.  Childcare will be provided at each meeting.  Most of our communication is done through the school email communication (list serve).  Please sign up through the school’s website.

If you have any questions about our PTSO please feel free to contact me at thejacksoncrew@comcast.net.

Have a great year,

Linnette Jackson

Sunset PTSO President
